Is Levitra Better Than Viagra?

Levitra vs. Viagra in ED treatment

levitra vs viagra

Depending on the patient, Levitra can be better than Viagra, and the other way around. Anticipating your question, the price for both drugs lies within the same limits of approximately $1.32 per pill of the generic version.

When choosing between the two classical ED drugs, you should rely on three factors:

  1. Individual response
  2. Individual tolerance
  3. Therapy purposes

Only you – together with your prescriber, of course – can answer these questions. It is not unusual for men to establish which drug works better for them by the method of trial and error. To this end, it makes sense to consider combination packages (the so-called ”ED Packs”) containing two or more ED drugs in correlated doses in order to compare their efficacy and safety for every consumer.

So how to Levitra and Cialis stack up based on the three parameters mentioned above?

Individual response

In the study carried out by Dr. Eusebio Rubio-Aurioles and his colleagues in 2006, men taking Levitra and Viagra were asked to comment on their health outcomes. While the general efficacy of the two drugs was comparable, the Sexual Encounter Profile (SEP) results of vardenafil were higher, reflecting better satisfaction with the quality of sexual experience following the intake of Levitra.

Levitra is reported to be effective in patients that did not respond adequately to Viagra therapy; this property of Levitra is especially felt in patients with diabetes, a condition that triples the risk of erectile difficulty (read the article Levitra And Diabetes to learn more on the subject).

Individual tolerance

Unlike Viagra, Levitra is much more selective in its PDE5 inhibition; in practice, this translates into considerably fewer side effects. To enhance this, the active substance of Levitra is effective in much smaller doses of 20mg compared to sildenafil 100mg (both doses are maximal).

Therapy purposes

Viagra and Levitra can be used interchangeably as far as the therapeutic purposes go (managing the symptoms of ED), with the exception of diabetic background. Levitra is a better therapy choice for the purpose of impotence treatment in men with diabetes.

Another important purpose of Levitra use can be the treatment of premature ejaculation (PE). This property of Levitra is actually so essential that we will focus on it in a separate paragraph – read on to learn how Levitra can help you delay ejaculation and last longer!

Levitra’s PE-fixing property

premature ejaculation

Levitra (vardenafil) is the second type 5 phosphodiesterase inhibitor drug to be marketed after obtaining authorization from the Food and Drug Administration on August 19, 2003 for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.

Vardenafil, rather than the result of actual research or scientific discovery, is a structural modification of the parent molecule, sildenafil (the active ingredient of Viagra). In fact, the chemical structure of vardenafil differs from that of sildenafil only in the different position of a nitrogen atom and in the alkyl substituent of the piperazine ring, which instead of being a methyl group, is an ethyl group, i.e. only has been added a carbon atom that absolutely does not change the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of vardenafil compared to sildenafil. It can in fact be noted that the pharmacological properties, the side effects, the time it takes for the drug to take effect, and other characteristics of vardenafil are very similar to those of sildenafil.

However, despite all the similarities, vardenafil has a particular property, which no other type 5 phosphodiesterase inhibitor has; vardenafil significantly increases the time it takes from the start of vaginal penetration to ejaculation and can therefore also be used in the treatment of premature ejaculation. This advantage of vardenafil can be used to treat patients suffering from both erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation with a single drug.
